baby shower cake

I had a hard time letting the little gumpaste shoes go. I love them so.

And now to clean up the mess. I would be happy to cake daily IF it didn't have to be at my own house!

    p.s.

Jim laughed when I made this cake last Friday. And teased that it would never make my blog. Well, it was delicious (cake mix! store bought frosting!) and I am thoroughly enjoying the Olympic Games. So here it is!

OHHHHHH, how DID you let those shoes go? Oh my goodness. I think I'll start hoping that Ty or Ande marry someone from Arizona so we can buy a wedding cake from you. Yours are incredible.

You have inspired me with the Olympic Cake. Tomorrow is Linger Longer (we serve in the single's ward) and wa-la, I can think of nothing they'd like better.

Those pink shoes are to die for. Gorgous stuff.

And I too love the Olympic cake. We are doing Olympics for FHE on Monday, and this is perfect. Thanks!

I love how you "tied" one of the pink kicks.....so adorable!

Oh. my. GOSH. Just when I think you can't top yourself, Amy!

The laces! The stitching! The little blue lines and the star logo! And all those little buttons... I can't even imagine. What a masterpiece.

The Olympics one -- yeah! Now there's a cake decorating job I could handle!

ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! Oh how I wish I knew how to do cakes like that!

And the Olympic one was such a cute idea. Wish I had thought of it!

I'm still dying over the shoes. Dying! When you mentioned them on Wednesday, I thought the idea sounded cute, but the pictures are just amazing -- so much better than my imagination. I bet whoever you made the cake for just croaked from the cuteness.

I don't think I could have figured out how to make the Olympic rings interlock, so even that's impressive to me!

Wow, wow, wow what an amazing cake for a baby shower!! I am seriously impressed with your skills (as usual).

Oh my Holy Toledo! I was so excited when I read the title of your post and got all giddy with excitement as the pictures were uploading. I just canNOT believe how perfectly amazing that cake turned out. The shoes, the shoe laces, the stitches on the shoes, the buttons, each of the little shirts and onesies....I don't even want to know how long it took you (well, maybe I do). You definitely have a gift!

That is seriously one of the most amazing cakes I have ever seen. I was so glad to get to see it in person. I proudly showed it off to several people before the shower. (They all took pictures with their phones, and also proclaimed it the cutest cake ever!) I think I have seen most of your cakes in person and you continue to amaze me with every one. The shower was a great success from what I could tell, and the mom to be took the top layer home intact and wouldn't let anyone touch those pink shoes!! The bottom layer was devoured.

I had to come back and admire your cakes again. You are a genius.

(All my kids visit your blog and look at the cakes. You are known for your cute kiddos and your lovely cakes around here!)

Chloe thought I was completely brilliant with the M&M's Olympic Rings. Thanks for the inspiration!

Can't get over those shoes. You are nearly as talented with gum paste as you are with tiny humans. You certainly do create beautiful things.

In order that people may be happy in their work, these things are needed: they must be fit for it; they must not do much of it; and they must have a sense of success in it. Post by Ajf6

    Hey Amy,

I found your cake on Pinterest and fell in love with it. We had to do a surprise baby shower cake this weekend for a little boy, and we were looking for inspiration when we saw your cake. I just knew I had to do one too.

If you get a moment, maybe you can come take a peek :)
