    A Call for IDEAS!

I just got a calling to do the Night Programs at our Stake Girl's Camp.  I know I have oh so many brilliant friends with eons of added up brilliant experience, so I thought I'd send a plea out for Ideas.  What impactful spiritual and fun night programs have you seen done at YW Camp?

    OR

do you have any ideas that follow a University theme?  The first night is a Pep Rally, the last night Commencement...

Our whole youth conference a few months ago was the university of believers theme. I'll have to call my friend who was in charge of it and ask her.

One of the most memorable nights I remember at Girl's Camp was having an astronomy lesson late at night. I can remember lying in the grass on our blankets while someone talked about the constellations and galaxies. Because it was at night, and pretty late to make sure it was dark enough (we were in Montana) it felt extra special because it was like we were getting away with something. It was fun.

Good luck. Sounds like a lot of work.

I think I used to be a person with ideas, and now I am a person who takes 4 year olds to the bathroom for my calling. Plus, you know my camp experience. I'm sure you will do awesome with this -- I hope you get some good input from people. I'll let you know if I'm hit with any camp program revelation while I'm on a bathroom run.

    1. Have the girls go on a dusk/night hike. Write scripts about specific women in the scriptures to illustrate whatever point you'd like to make. Get women in your stake to dress up like these scriptural women and memorize the part. Plant the women along a trail, spread out from each other. Then start the girls hiking in silence in small groups also spread out from each other {you can even have 1/2 the groups start in one direction and the other in the opposite so they will cross each other in the middle - this saves time}. Obviously, when they find one of the scriptural women, they stop and listen to her story, then move on.
    2. Challenge each ward to come prepared to perform a dance routine & new lyrics to an old song. Have them perform talent show style.
    3. Have an astronomy presentation from a knowledgeable source. Have him/her use powerpoint slides from NASA during the presentation which you project up for everyone to see {keeps the girls interest}. Have people from your stake bring their telescopes and set up after the scriptural tie-in ending to the presentation. Then let the girls stick around and look through them.
    4. Have all the Bishops come up prepared with 5-10 minute talks on topics you choose. Divide the girls into groups and have them rotate stations.
Hope this helps... I'll write more if I can think of something good.
