a boy's view of his parents

Tonight's FHE opened with this prayer from Aidan:

"Thank you that dad could come home and kill black widows and that he is so brave.  And dad goes to work.  And he is a great sword fighter.  And has courage.  But mom just reads books all the time.  And watches t.v. and cuts things out."

    That's me in a nutshell.

     ??!!!

AND stays home and takes care of every little need for two little people. That's right up there with black widows and sword fighting, if you ask me:)

:-) I always enjoy hearing what the children choose to say in prayers. It is fun to hear things from their perspective. I agree with Lucy's comment!

How funny. I always have to laugh when the kids say the prayer and aren't sure what to say about me. They're thankful dad goes to work, but kind of pause when they're thankful for me. What's up with that?

Must be close to FHE exchange time if all you do is cut things out. . . speaking of which I need to start doing. I think lately that it could be said of me that all I do is read too -- what's wrong with that? I love their prayers - so cute and very smart to record it so that you and he can remember it some day. I also love the way the kids idolize their daddy's - I've been thinking about that a lot lately and it's so cute.

oh my. little ones are so funny

though we don't hear it sometimes as moms, we know our little ones do love and appreciate us, too. even if we aren't sword fighters, right?

What a great prayer! I was going to say I hope that you are writing these things down...ah, duh...hello, I read it on your blog...of course you are writing these funny conversations down. Great kids!

I love this age just for this reason! So fun to have them written down! Don't you just love the comments about being a Mom in general? So fun!

VERY amusing. I can't imagine what my children really think I do all day. The warped mind of toddlers.

Oh my goodness! Did you laugh out loud? I would not have been able to keep myself from laughing. What on earth do you cut out all the time? And do you have a black widow problem? So funny.

I love it. Carter was good about thinking of stuff for his prayers for a while, but has gotten into the vain-repetitions, I am affriad. I feel a Prayer themed Home Evening coming on.

Do you 'cut things out' as in tell the boys to 'cut it out!' or as in with scissors or as in heavily editing your family's schedule?
    So, so cute.

So funny! My daughter always prays that she can have a good day at school, that Daddy can be safe and have good day at work and that Mommy and Ella can have fun at home all day. Yup. It's all about the fun. :O)

Hey, at least he noticed you are reading. I think my kids would say all I do is clean, wait a minute they do :)

I love the things that come out in prayers. They seem to say so much more that they wouldn't think of just during the day. And he will appreciate that he grew up seeing you read. That's a good thing.

Big sigh. It's good to know our children appreciate the work we do for them at home.
