Eagle Scout Cake

I daydream as I cake (yes, the word is now a verb here).

And as I decorated this one, and considered that my Aidan's scouting career begins this year with his 8th birthday, I imagined the many Eagle celebrations in my future.  This design is a good start, but I may have to get more creative as we go.

What else happened as I decorated?

Miss Azure's arms are getting long.  I do realize that I'm not the most observant human (especially when I'm deep in concentration), but the girl grabbed this apple sauce from the table and managed to open and suck it dry without my notice.

IF my son ever gets his act together and earns his Eagle, I wish you could make that cake for him! It is so awesome! Sadly, I live even farther away from you than I used to! Darn it!

Beautiful cake, and even more beautiful little girl!

This is amazing, Amy! You seem to outdo yourself each time you make a new cake!

Yes, my miss Ashlyn has gotten into many a bowl of leftover oatmeal on the table in the past weeks. Inevitably the kids forget to put the bowl in the sink, and I forget she's big enough to climb up on the chair and start feeding herself. Can't believe how fast they grow!!

You totally had me wanting that cake. . . until I realized I DON'T HAVE ANY BOYS! Bummer. I'll have you come up with a Young Womens cake someday I guess.

Love the cake and that you love to cake :) And Azure has the most beautiful eyes! And let me tell you a quick story since you brought up the topic of not being observant when you are deep in concentration. One day when Claire was napping, and I had Brock playing with his trains, I went and did some email checking on the computer. About 10 minutes go by, and my sister Jaimee calls (this was when she lived in our neighborhood). She informed me that Brock walked over to her house to say "hi." I immediately felt my stomach lurch downward with guilt, fear, sickness, ignorance...the whole package of feelings mothers feel when they realize they have not been doing their job as a mother, and that is watching their kids 24/7! So so so glad he knew where Jaimee lived and so so so glad she was home! AHHHH!!!!

Great cake! I wish I was a local so I could hire you for all of my cake needs. Well, you'd have to start making Gluten-Free cakes for ALL of my cake needs, but I'd definitely buy that eagle scout cake! Fabulous!

Wow, another amazing cake! You must have an extremely high patience level to make all the things you make because they are so detailed and done so well. I think I just figured out why this is a talent I do not have.

I love this cake, but somehow my favorite part is your handwriting on it. I love how that touch makes it yours. And yes, I agree with Mandi, let's start coming up with some YW cakes for those of us with no Eagle Scout potential!
