holy moly!

We went to the zoo today.  The part I *should have* photographed was my wonder woman friend Angie powering her two sets of twins up the hills in a quad stroller.  But I didn't even pull the camera out until she left early for naps.

I leisurely watched the boys at the play area and snapped a few pictures.  It has been a while, and I really need to document more of our lives.  But the surprise (holy moly!) came when I got home and looked at those pictures.

I have two BIG boys.

Some time this year (while I was laundering clothes, feeding the girl child, scrubbing toilets, avoiding scrubbing toilets,  reading books, making dinner for the two hundredth time!) these two turned into real boys.  Not little boys.

Do they look crazy grown up to you or am I just crazy?!

Nope. You're not crazy. They ARE big boys now. It must have happened while you fed the girl child (what a funny line).

Suddenly in a new phase of childhood. They really do look older!

Isn't it amazing!? And the funny thing is that we don't get any older--but they just keep on growing up.

What's also scary is when they start measuring themselves against you to see if they are taller than you, yet. None of my kids have passed me by (I think I'm going to have short girls!), but I know it is only a matter of time.

I think it happens like this where one day we think "Holy Crap, they're big! How did that happen?" I'm not a fan of the feeling actually, but tend to adjust quickly and think I'll recognize them as they are now, but then a few months later it happens again!

No pics of the girl child? Grace is sitting on my lap while I look at your blog and she squealed excitedly when she saw your boys' pics: "Those are our friends!" Big boy friends, indeed.

Very cute BIG boys, for sure. It does always come as a sudden flash of realization: hey, you used to be small...like yesterday!

I loved your First Birthday cake. Lovely colors and details! I am so excited for our smash cake. I'm not expecting to see very much actually go into his mouth.

No, you're not crazy. They are big and we are old, but life is good, no?

This happens to me periodically. Just last week, I noticed that all of Lucas's pants are too short! I swear they weren't too short the week before! He reported that when school started, he was shorter than his friend that sits by him at school; now he has passed him up. What the? It's been less than two months!
