    yes, your Majesty

Okay, he pretty much leaves off the last bit, but I do have a husband who gives me what I want. And it’s (surprisingly) as much of a blessing as a curse. Especially when one’s words are hasty (think King Midas hasty). And saying that my husband addresses my whims might make him sound saintly, but those who know Jim will attest to how he can devilishly & subtly turn one’s words against them.

But I digress. Because this is more about cake than quirks.

I’m here to praise Jim’s latest “yes”. A few weeks ago I handed him a sketch of a cupcake stand that I “absolutely need”. And a few days later it was built & in my ready hands. And I adore it.

Here it is with a baby shower cake I made this week (for Jenny...thanks!):

My first attempt at a sugar paste person.   There's definitely huge room for improvement, but I now feel much more confident working with the stuff. My kitchen still wears a layer of sugar.  And my mind is already dizzily seeking "the next project!"  It's a disease.

    A sick & sticky disease.

Wow, the cupcake stand looks fantastic and so does your cute sugar paste person! I'm so impressed that it only took Jim a week to make that for you. My husband seems to need a good 6 months or more notice to do any projects for me. It makes me crazy. I've been after him to make me a logo forever!

I LOVE it! I wish I were there helping you create, not that you need any help, except for maybe a dishwasher when you're all done! You really are so super talented, you did a great job.

Amy, this is so much more than a post about a cake and a cupcake stand. It was all wonderful. That cake/cupcakes/stand is incredible! I love the detail on her...the polka dots, the nostrils, capris, the balls lining the cake. What a team you and Jim are.

Okay, you know I love every sticky inch of this!! You are a sugar genius to say nothing of your queen of fondant status. And oh I LOVE a handy husband.

I have to echo Jane -- you and Jim are quite a team. That stand is awesome, and you will be able to use it for so many things -- the possibilities are so exciting!

The cake is beyond my imagination! It turned out fabulously well! I almost called you on Friday to see how it was going, but figured you were up to your ears in sugar. Amazing work.

i was going to say something terribly witty like, "sick & sticky diseases are the best!" but, then, er, that sounded... less than witty.

love your sugar paste mom-to-be. love your cupcake stand. (love your jim for creating it!)

If you asked Jim to make one for me, do you think he'd answer yes so swiftly?
