SPT: sun

It's no surprise that I've got a love/hate thing going on with today's topic.  I'm an AZ girl without a doubt, but that doesn't mean I easily maintain my cool when it's been a sunny110 for days.  And I'm not sure I can handle the continued sun in July's forecast, so next week I'll be heading to Utah (Cedar City) for a much cooler version of the same.  And then we'll be heading up to the AZ mountains for some rainy afternoons & reunioning.

In the meantime, this is what I did to cope:

A shorter cut.  Nothing on my neck.  And it honestly has made a big, cooling difference.  And it tempts me to take it all off next time.  Hm....

We're also simplifying the food around here.  I posted some summery recipes on B, L, & D, so check them out.  Layered Summer Fruits with Creamy Lime Dressing. in a trifle bowl. will make its appearance later this week (my taste buds are anxiously waiting for Thursday!).

Love the summer do! So fitting. Utah sounds so heavenly right now or even the mountains with this heat. I think the hardest part for me is if I want to exercise I need to set my alarm for 5 am! And yes, we do need to get together. I also wanted to ask you about a cake in August....

I love your haircut, I too just cut the locks for an easy breezy summer do.

Cute, cute hair! I have no idea how you cope with the heat down there. I would much rather be too cold than too hot, personally.

What a DARLING haircut, it makes your eyes stand out so beautifully.

110? My boiling point is much lower than that. Have fun in cooler temps.

snazzy new do...it looks really great! 110 is a bit dramatic, but a trip into the mountains sounds like a perfect solution. we are headed to the lake which will work for me. have fun!

i LOVE your hair!! and the color is awesome. i'm tempted to go shorter again, but the pesky Cat in the Hat has me committed to longer hair until August, at least. (longer hair=more options on stage).

happy and safe travels! thanks for keeping bl&d going - as always, you are my go-to gal for excellent food when inspiration has run dry!

I love, love, love it! It is beyond cute and is SO great with your eyes!

I want to cut my hair short so bad, but think I need to wait until after September because long hair is much easier to pull back when running. Still...this may have just put me over the edge. Kent will be glad. I am sure he is sick of me talking about it everytime I see a cute short do.

P.S. I will miss you while your on your vacation. It seems that all my favorite bloggers are getting away for awhile. Leaves me a bit lonely.

LOVE it! YOu look great. I need a new haircut. It has been about six months and I'm getting mighty shaggy.

Have fun on your trips!

Cute hair, cute you! I love having short hair--never going back to long ever.

Have a wonderful time with family and cooler climes. We'll be in AZ in a couple of weeks--of course we're coming for the family and not the weather!

I'll have to check out bl&d--thanks for the new posts. I'll try to send you some smoothie recipes, too (although they're not earth shattering).

Amy....
I LOVE the new haircut. Precious. yes, it will be much cooler on you in that HEAT!
The heat here in TN is very WET. ugh. Hate. It.

You have the best cheekbones! your facial structure is so very pretty, pretty woman! :)

What do your boys think of the new do? :)

Your haircut looks really nice. I think I'll go even shorter with mine. When I get hot, it just falls in my face and drives me bonkers!
I have a great summer recipe for you. It's a Chicken Mango Salad. It's grilled chicken strips (cooked), cubed avocado, and cubed mango, all topped with a light raspberry vinaigrette dressing. YUMMY! Even my 9 yr old loved it. My 3 yr old won't really eat much of anything so he's not a good example in the food area. :)

Love the cut and color. I also can't wait to check out the recipes. I'm so tired of my summer recipes already!

Love the hair, I'm seriously thinking of printing off your pic and taking it in to get the same cut, so cute, and you look fantastic!
And I hate to make you feel bad, but it's only Wednesday and I've got five points for the week. Ha ha! Are you pumped up now?

Love the idea of your sun post.

CUTE haircut. I'm with ya as far as having NOTHING on my neck come summer.

We too will be in the Arizona mountains come August for a family reunion. Down in Mexico for a birthday and then up to Utah for a wedding!

Whew, I miss Arizona!

Your hair looks great. I wonder if cutting my hair would make a good temperature difference for me, I just can't do it though because short hair doesn't look good on my ample face and neck.
July 2, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterJill
Love the new haircut! It really shows off your cheekbones.
July 2, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterAmy
Could you be any cuter?

That cut has me all kinds of green-with-envy and wanting to do the same!
July 3, 2008 | Unregistered CommenterApril
Oh my! Your haircut is SO cute! If I wasn't afraid of going to a random Montana hair cutter, I would get that done today! So fabulous!

Love it! You are looking so skinny BTW! See you tomorrow! Right, are you coming since we are coming? ha ha

You're gorgeous! Love the hair. It looks fantastic on you.

I couldn't do 110. I just couldn't. You Arizonians are brave souls.

Love the new cut. I feel your pain. The heat is awful. Cedar City? That will be fun. 3 of my Bro. went to college there. Try and take time to see Zion if you haven't already. AWESOME. Hope you have fun. Love your blogs.

You look FABULOUS! Wish I could pull off a cut like that... Going to look at your recipe site next, now that I'm doing the stay at home thing I should actually start cooking. Well, nothing that requires the oven right now - like you said, too hot even in cali.

I LOVE your hair!! If I ever lose the weight I need to, I'm going to have short hair like that, it is so adorable. And I cannot believe your cheekbones! Lucky girl.
