Easter

a few pictures from the day:

The boys were excited & surprised to wake up to baskets.

I made breakfast sweet rolls for Easter morning.  They were hollow inside to represent the empty tomb of the first Easter.  Davyn was fascinated...and spent more time looking through the hole than actually eating the roll.   It was such an easy treat to make that I think I'll do it every year.

On the night before you flatten out a small piece of bread dough, then wrap it around a large marshmallow.  Roll in melted butter, then mixture of 1/4 cup sugar and 1 tsp. cinnamon.  Cover and refrigerate overnight.  Bake for 15 minutes at 350 in the morning.  They were actually quite tasty.

Egg-dying.  Jim vetoed my proclomation that all eggs be one perfectly solid & bright color.  I dream of such a tidy world, but am glad he delights in the boys' creativity.

When I asked for smiles, this was what I got.  And after this shot, they each ate two hard-boiled eggs & begged for more.  This morning when I peeled some hard-boiled eggs for breakfast, Aidan looked stunned.  "Mom, we can't have a treat for breakfast!"  Good enough to be forbidden.  I seriously think they would choose these over candy any day.

What cute boys with egg eyes. 8-) My kids looked askance at the deviled eggs for dinner (but mostly ate them).

I love your morning roll idea--I'll have to stop by breakfast, lunch, and dinner and see if the recipe is there!

I'll have to try the morning roll idea -- interesting with the marshmallow.

My girls were so excited to eat the colored eggs this morning, but only Brynlee finished hers. PQ said, "Hm, this is weird yogurt."

I didn't even try to get my kids to eat the hard boiled eggs. I don't like them, so I assume they don't. Maybe I should let them determine their own tastes? I loved the shocked, "We can't have a treat for breakfast!"

My kids would eat as many hard boiled eggs as I would let them. They are definitely "treat-worthy" in our house. Love the shot of the eggs-for-eyes.

Thank you so much for the Easter activity...so sweet of you and my kids are loving it, even though we are doing it the "week after." I figure we can talk about Jesus Christ any time!

How funny that they consider hard boiled eggs a treat!

That's cute that he thought they were treats. London loved them and Savy hated them. I am such a slacker that I took no pictures Easter Sunday. Those rolls were good, though. Definitely destined to become tradition.

What a great idea on the rolls! If only my kids thought hard-boiled eggs were a treat! They won't touch them.
