    go team!

    asu-05-masthead.jpg
Jim says he finally knows I love him {so relieved we finally got that out in the open!}.   Filling out my September calendar last week, I looked up and wrote down ASU’s football schedule. Oblivious to the joy it would bring my boy. I don’t love football.  But I do love Jim.

    And now he knows. Apparently.

Last Saturday we watched ASU beat Colorado. With Mike & Kay (thank you for taking us!). Said beating was less than certain during the entire first quarter. Which we spent in the midst of Colorado fans. And, while I’m all for team spirit, these people took it far too far. Kay agreed.

And the highlight of my night was when my mostly mild-mannered mother-in-law tagged the most obnoxious of the Colorado crooners with a piece of ice when ASU scored in the second quarter. She did it discreetly. And quickly.

And it made me smile.  And like football a tiny bit more.

But I wonder if my love will wane in Jim's eyes if I'm holding a good book to assuage the 2nd half doldrums during this Saturday's game.  Against San Diego.

    At 7 o'clock.

    Which we're favored to win.

    By 28 points.

Can you feel the love, baby?!

A very 'small' piece of ice! It had to feel good in the heat, right?

Kay, has me laughing this morning! I would have loved to see that piece of ice flying thru the air towards Colorado! YEA! Kay! I knew you where my type of gal!

Aww, you DO love him! It wouldn't even occur to me to write down a schedule of a sport for Keith, but I don't think he's a fan of anything the way Jim is with ASU. Go Kay with the *small* piece of ice!

I haven't attended many football games outside of the sterilized Cougar Stadium but on one of the few times I did, it was a CU/CSU game and I got vomited on by a drunk college aged guy. It made me like football a tiny bit less. I wish I would have had a MIL with some ice to pelt then.

I'm so glad you and Jim have an understanding. Who knew marking a calender could be it's own love language?

When we had ASU season tickets- I was surprised that I really enjoyed going. It was then that I started to understand football. Now that we don't have them anymore- I kinda miss it! Who knew! If anything- sounds like your MIL will keep you entertained!

isn't it interesting the things that really mean the most to our significant others.

The ice bit cracks me up. I think I would of had to get in on the action too.

I HATE football, your a sport to sit there and watch with your husband. I'm not that nice, I can't even stand hearing it in the background. And Tom has signed up for the fantasy football thing this year, and constantly makes comments on who's winning, and who scored what. I smile nicely and nod, I really have nothing to say. If it were basketball...that's a different story.

what a good wife!! And, my husband and I just quietly part ways when it comes to sports spectatoring. (not a word, I know!) So, you're a sweetie to sit with him!!

you are a good wife. I'm not quite that supportive but I try. I love that your mother in law threw ice. That's so funny!

I don't often post but had to comment on my spunky sister and the ice incident. I know she is embarrased but it is kinda funny. Eloise

Last winter I wrote, "Hockey Day in Canada" on the calender, and Dirk was on cloud 9 that I remembered. Hockey Day in Canada is all Hockey, all day, all over the country. I made 'hockey puck cookies" sugar cookies cut in circles and frosted with black icing, and I read "The Hockey Sweater" to the kids at story time.

I did not actually watch any hockey.

I love it! That is true love to have them all written on the calendar. I am laughing that Kay threw ice a someone!! I would love to see that. Glad you guys had fun.

I thought the ice was funny, knowing Kay - or not knowing her I should say! And you are indeed a good wife to sit there throughout the game - book or no book. I agree with Megan - basketball would be another story, but football no way! I can watch the Suns any day, but maybe our lack of football fanatacism can be blamed on the Cardinals?? I don't know - maybe our dad?? All I know is that there was a lot more b-ball than football on our tv growing up!

I'm laughing at all the comments on my descent to ill behavior. I must admit to being a big sports fan, and usually behave myself. I also admit to being the #2 ASU football fan, right after Jim. (I taught him all he knows, you know) Mike and I watch every Suns game, quite a few Diamondback games, but when ASU football is on TV, it is I who turn it on and watch every minute of every game. Ladies, football is an awesome sport, and altho' I am pretty turned off by what the pro game has sunk to, I still love college ball. GO DEVILS!! (I guess it's obvious why Heavenly Father sent me a houseful of boys and only one tomboy girl.)

Fight Devils!! I am not a big football fan myself, but really who am I kidding I have 4 boys in my household, it looks like I better get used to it. We were just discussing how we are going to get season tickets for ASU next year. I guess I am biased since I used to dance on the sidelines. Good times.

I enjoy football when I'm involved with it somehow (like if I am at a game, playing in a game, or know someone playing) but these things rarely happen so I don't see a whole lot of football anymore except for when I watch Friday Night Lights, then I'm in love.

It's mighty cute that putting ASU on the calendar was a love note to Jim.
