    tagged for favorites

Tagged by Kelly, and Jim's reading H.P. in bed, and I am unreasonably restless for 12:30 AM.

    4 Jobs I've had:

    1. Secretary. “Studying” was my self-proclaimed job through high school, so my first real paycheck didn’t come until my sophomore year in college. I worked in the EMBA office at BYU. And loved it. And spent the rest of college working there with some of my favorite people ever.

    2. Temp. Mostly afraid to grow up and be a real person, I avoided such through lots & lots of temporary work. Like 3 years worth. Everything from Medical Transcription at Georgetown University Hospital to secretary at temp agency itself. Each time I or they became attached it was definitely time to move on. I’m not saying I didn’t have issues.

    3. Events planning in Las Vegas. Um…this lasted for four months…I was still suffering from detachment issues beyond those of #2.

    4. High School English Teacher. Accepting fate and settling down. I finally found my place. I loved teaching where I taught. I love what I learned there. I loved feeling alive in front of a classroom.

    4 Places I've lived:

    1. The Valley.  Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Scottsdale, Phoenix. We were movers.

    2. Page, Arizona…the childhood idyll.

    3. Washington, D.C…the grown-up idyll.

    4. Conifer, Colorado…in a log cabin with elk outside of my morning window when I decided to be Thoreau but had no pond.

    4 Favorite TV shows:

    1.  Top Chef

    2.  Stargate

    3.  Arrested Development

    4.  Avatar (the family t.v. time favorite)

    4 Favorite foods:

    1. Vietnamese Salad Rolls. Kelly’s number one carries over for me. At Christmas I made & brought some to a gathering at my mom’s and no. one. ate. them. A little off-beat for her crowd, I guess. But, they were oh so divine to me.

    2. Coconut anything.

    3. Any combo of fresh basil, garlic, tomatoes and parmesan.

    4. Black beans and rice. Poor people’s food that I could happily eat every single day of my life.

    4 Websites I frequent:

    1. hotmail

    2. lds.org

    3. America’s Test Kitchen

    4. blogs!

4 Places I'd rather be right now:

    1. in bed…why am I awake right now??

    2. anywhere with my lover (yes, Jim, that’s you, but you’re in bed, so, once again, why am I in here??)

    3. New York….(it’s nearly been 5 years of east coast hiatus & I crave my fix)

    4. We used to play a game where we’d spin the globe and, eyes closed, put our finger down to stop & choose. That place is my number 4. I want to see the world.

4 Movies I love: the ones I must watch regularly for rejuvination

    1. Seven Samurai (for honor)

    2. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (for beauty)

    3. Love Actually:  (for love)

    4. Pride and Prejudice:  (for words)

    I tag:

    1.  Mandi

    2.  Sheri

    3.  Shanon

    4.  Megan C. (your blog vacation is over!) & Megan T.

I'm excited that we both chose Love Actually. That movie makes me really happy, plus it has a little Christmas in it. My favorite.

I still love the way you write. I love the way your words flow. So nice to read.

Do you also watch Ace of Cakes or does that type of show bug you? I didn't know you taught English...well I should have guessed your writing is beautiful!

What in the samhill were you doing up at 12:30 am? I can barely stay up past nine lately, this summer killed me.
I liked your answers, I found a lot of them to be similar to what I would put, like I LOVE Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon as well.

What a fun post! Now, how do you make Vietnamese Salad Rolls? I've never heard of them! Do tell.

We have some great Vietmanese places here. I love the rolls the most.
I could eat black beans and rice everyday also! I pretty much do.

Once when Keith and Kelly were visiting Canada Ken and I suggested the entire extended family go out for Vietnamese food. Most of the extended family had a hard time enjoying that restaurant. Too different for them, I guess. Vietnamese is always in my top 3 when Ken asks where I want to go eat on a date.
I'm going to have to check out America's test kitchen.

I remember that restaurant visit from Barb's comment. I was in love, but it was amusing to watch the rest of the family not so enjoying it.

I think it's so funny that we have the same love for salad rolls, and we've never had them together. I need your recipe for them. I get my favorites here at a booth at a nearby farmer's market.
