miscellany

Wild & Gorgeous storms ruled our skies last night. LOVE the thunder and pounding rain. And it somehow seemed an appropriate backdrop for staying up until 3 A.M. to finish this:

Oh yes, I'm one of those. And I stayed up late to read because I didn't want to overhear any spoilers. Sure enough, in Young Women's today one of the girls blurted out the ending. But, yay!, I already knew. So, for those still reading, I won't be adding my recent reads review on this one for a while...no spoiling from me.
and on a completely unrelated note...
One of the big joys of blogging is when people you haven't been in touch with for years stumble across your blog (or vice versa). In this case, a high school inseparable, college roommate, all-around amazing friend Tiffany found Kelly's blog a few months back...clicked to mine...and we were reconnected after 12(ish) years. She has made comments here & there, we've e-mailed a bit, but the best news came today when she wrote that she started her own blog. Check out Tiffany's world here. And let me warn you that the girl can cook...she and April gave me my first lessons our sophomore year...so I'm hoping she'll share some of her creations (subtle hint..).
This is one of my family's favorite dinners that came from Tiff. Quick, creamy, hot, 100% comfort food!
Crust: 1 3/4 cup flour 1/2 cup oil
1 tsp. salt 3 Tbsp cold water
Mix flour and salt. Stir in oil until absorbed. Add water one Tbsp at a time until good consistency. Roll out between waxed paper.
Filling: 2 chicken breasts, cooked & cut
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 potatoes, peeled & cubed
1/2 cup sour cream
1/2 cup carrots, chopped
1 cup shredded cheddar
1/2 cup peas (I substitute frozen green beans. Not. a. pea. fan.)
Boil potatoes & carrots until tender. Drain. Heat soup, sour cream, and cheese until melted. Stir all filling together. Pour into pie crust. Cover with the second crust. Crimp edges. Bake at 400-425 for 30-35 minutes.

Glad you enjoyed the book! I'm not one of *those*. Does that surprise you? Ha ha!
I can't remember when I passed that recipe along? I got it from a wonderful lady out here and we enjoy it too (although not in the summer!). It is good because there is nothing low fat about it! :)
We had the book shared 3 ways at our house. Alan stayed up to finish it last night and I'm about to go get our copy back from Amberly. I'm sure I'll get it done today. Jessica has only read through book 5 so she has to wait to read it!
She was so taken with this book. I know that is. You think of it and dream of it and cry that it's over. I just have never interested in Harry. Cool to have your friend now in the blogging world. I love chicken pot pie! ciao
I'm a fan, but my main motivation to finish the book was to avoid the spoilers. Ooops! I just deleted a spoiler sentence, seriously what was I thinking!
