Utah: 4th of July
I need to record to remember last week's Utah, so there will likely be many upccoming late posts about the trip. We had a blast. All of my siblings were together for the first time in a long time. The cousins had sweet reunions - lots of hugs and laughter. I took hundreds of pictures. But how do you get a good one of 13 cousins (mostly under 5)? After fighting through a few frames, I gave up, saying, "just be silly." That's a realm where these Hendrix littles excel.

Between daylight savings and being away from home & schedule, time was surreal in Cedar City. 9:30 sunsets made for many late nights. And JoDee's backyard was a perfect stage for little kid play. After dinner on the 4th, Cyndee had arranged an obstacle course for the cousins. They went one by one (timed, for the competitive parents, of course), and those left behind cheered & chanted.
Wesley was our winner, but Wyatt & Aidan (& all the others) were equally proud of their gold medals. And it was endearing to watch the children give Wesley his due admiration for being "so fast".
I was anxious to try sparkler pictures with my new camera. But I could not get any child to stand still for long enough to capture a good shot. It may be many years down the road, but someday I'll figure out the whole photography in the dark thing.
Aidan running from my efforts. Again. Davyn cowering (from the loud of fireworks) into Dad.
I love July 4th. And loved celebrating with my family.

Photography in the dark is aweful. I always see amazing night shots on line, or on a calender or something, and mine never work. I actually really like the one of Aiden running away. You get the outline of his whole body, the sparklers are lighting up his face (very cool) and you have a great capture of the sparklers themselves. Very cool indeed.
