    team Amy

    Cyn Amy Cake.jpg
I have a good team.  Seriously.  Everyone needs people like this.  On Friday morning I needed people like this.  My fondant proved far more stressful than anticipated, but I put on my Calm and moved forward.  I foolishly tried to do the huge layer solo and wasn't happy with the not-so-smooth result.  The big question was Leave It? or Do Over?  Aidan made the decision easy by grabbing a huge chunk of fondant off of the base cake.  Do over.  The Calm was cracking.  So in came my very willing team, Cyndee & Jim.  They both immediately left what they were doing 30 minutes away to help me keep that Calm.  We lifted the fondant together to perfection.  Six hands make light work...truly.  Cyndee also trooped with me through the night.  We piped in tandem, and with a finish time of 1:30 I was gratefully imagining my solo time at about 4 am.  A million thank you's don't suffice...especially considering that this was only one of many, many Jim & Cyndee's to the rescue.  All in all, I was happy with the results and think it turned out to be a very Jenna cake.

The party was beautiful. Truly.  Aidan was a bit tranquil, but Davyn made up for it in droves.  This 2-year-old danced the night away, ate plate after plate of food, sought out strangers eagerly, didn't yawn once until he konked out instantly when he hit the carseat at about 11.  A true party people person...so not me..or Jim.

Team Jenna and Tyler is two days under way.  They're right now basking in the bliss, I'm sure.  Oh, until she has a test tonight, that is...the price of getting married mid-semester.  But that won't be the only stress they face. They begin a life where Tyler will come to her rescue as many times as she will come to his.  And after all of Saturday's love and well-wishes, I hope they know that Jim & I are only two of many, many who will willingly be part of the further back-up to their team.  We love you both!

Amy the cake is beautiful! Why couldn't styles be what they are now 10 years ago when I scrounched through endless beads and lace to find simple, classic, only receiving blank stares in return? I love her dress. Oh well, I digress :). My heart sank a little when I saw your post from yesterday and wondered if maybe you wouldn't post about your cake adventures. So glad you have family there to rescue you when you panic. That is when we need our loved ones the most.

I forgot to add how cute your hair is. It's seriously what I wanted mine to look like and I know the picture I took in looks just like it. Well, we all know how that ended. :)

I love the black and white wedding. The cake is gorgeous with the black piping, and the amazing smooth finish of the fondant. I'll come visit that cake when it lives in your side bar more than once, I'm sure.

It looks great! Congrats on your first wedding cake success, one of many to come I'm sure. I'm sorry that the bottom fondant layer gave you problems, been there done that! I'm glad you had a back-up team in a crisis. I'm glad mine was there when it happened to me, although I think I required about 3 more people than you did so you must be more skilled than I. I love the piping designs, too. I can only imagine the hand cramps that you must have had when it was finished!

Gorgeous piping...oh-so-smooth fondant...I don't think there was ever a more elegant B&W cake. The wedding looked delightful from the photos. Kudos to you and your respective teams. Everyone can use that sort of back up!

Your cake was even more fantastic in person and you truly put a lot of energy into it and the finished product rewared all of us because of it. I also think the Scott family designated photographer did an amazing job of capturing the essence of D with the pic, especially for that element.

So I thought I commented on this before but I don't see it so either it was eaten alive or I am losing my mind. Probably the latter. Anyway, beautiful, simply beautiful!
