more Christmas treats

I made donuts to give to some neighbors & friends for FHE tonight and thought it would be cute to add an "H" to the donut "0"'s for a Christmas Ho! Ho! Ho!
Megan called in the midst of the kneading part of the process and asked what I was doing. She laughed and told me that there has been some kind of uproar in Australia over santas saying "ho, ho, ho". Apparently it's offensive to women and can potentially frighten children. Who knew.
So the santas have been advised to steer clear of that suspect phrase. Political correctness gone mad, I say.
Do you think my neighbors will be offended by my Ho's?!

Donut Recipe
This comes (again!) from my mother-in-law. They are easy & delicious.
6 cups flour
1/2 cup shortening
1 tsp salt
1 egg, beaten
1/3 cup mashed potatoes
4 Tbsp sugar
2 cups scalded milk
2 Tbsp yeast
Cut shortening into flour. Add potatoes (I just peeled & boiled two russet potatoes, mashed them with some whipping cream & added a little salt), sugar, salt and egg. Warm milk in microwave and combine it with yeast. Wait for mixture to bubble, then add to dough. Knead dough. Let dough rise for 10 minutes. Roll out, cut, and allow dough to rise for an additional 30-45 minutes. Heat vegetable oil in saucepan (I have a deep fryer that I love because it is oh so quick once it gets going). Cook each side of the donut. Top with powdered sugar glaze, cinnamon & sugar or chocolate.

Ho Ho Ho, offensive? Hmm. Maybe if you already have a complex about something. How is it scary, though? It means presents!!
They look great! I am so impressed by all of your holiday projects... as for me, mine are all half done laying through out the house in disarray!
Thanks for the recipe!
Ok I'm off my soap box now. Here's hoping you get a freak sprinkling of snow on Christmas? The good news is that children are easily distracted and forgetful (as Aidan has thus illustrated). So hopefully on Christmas cute little London won't notice. Personally I'd rather go to the beach on Christmas like we used to do when I was a girl.
i have heard about those offended by ho and i laughed out loud. huh? i say spread your ho cheer all over the place, sister. some people need to lighten up!
you are fab-- i just can't believe those ho ho ho's- just fab and SO yummy looking.
(not fair, not fair! I want to live close to you, too!)
