heading out

More camping this weekend.  Family reunion-ing, in fact.  Scott's.
But I'll leave you with the must-have {Hendrix} camping food.  Save your marshmallows for the campfire, folks.  This is how we do it in my family:

chocolate%20scotcheroos.jpgRice Krispie Treats

1 cup corn syrup
1 cup sugar
1 cup creamy peanut butter
6 cups(-ish) rice krispies
1 cup semi-sweet chips
1 cup butterscotch chips

1.  Boil corn syrup and sugar in large sauce pan.  Remove from heat and add peanut butter.

2.  Add rice krispies (I don't measure, but be careful not to overdo because you definitely want to keep it a bit gooey).

3.  Spread in buttered 9x13 pan.

4.  Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips.  Spread mixture on top of treats & refrigerate until firm.

Fair Warning:  This fairly addictive treat should only be made when there are lots of share-ers to be found.

breakfast at my house

This is for my own memory purposes.  In case this phase ever ends.  Every.single.morning my boys wake me with requests?...nay, demands!..for "eggs & toast & circles".  Sometimes I try to shake it up with offers of pancakes or cereal or oatmeal.  No.  They want their eggs.

And toast.

And circles.

So this is my stovetop each morning:

Aidan takes two.  Davyn takes one, with a side of anywhere from 2 to 4 scrambled eggs (once we counted 7).  Did I mention that he's only 2?  Yes, I'm building giants.

A drinks water.  D much prefers milk.

When there's fruit on the side, A needs it on an entirely separate plate or bowl.  D doesn't so much mind the co-mingling of peach juice and egg yolk.

Do you forget all of these detailed preference (demands!) when they are old & gone?  I imagine it all fades despite how insistent it seems NOW as they dominate my days.

But I'll record them {just in case}.
