party favors at a birthday party for the Fancy mother of my Fancy friend:
When she hired me to do these, I have to admit that I was most excited about the designing element. What little girl didn't grow up dreaming up and drawing out clothes and other fashionables (confession: my designs were all for barbies, not myself)?! And what grown girl doesn't grin at the sight of matching purse and shoes?!
I think I'm a tiny bit obsessed with tiny shoes after the last baby shower cake because when I was hired to do this 1st birthday Cowboy theme, I instantly knew what it had to include. Why, tiny boots, of course!
This is for a firstborn on his first birthday. His mom is going all out and I decided to do the same. First birthdays are my absolute favorites. Absolute.
Mostly because of the smash cakes, I think. Love and love. By one, little personalities come to life and I so enjoy watching how each child approaches their own little cake.
In honor of the Green of it all, I actually made a bow for Azure. My first handmade bow. And I was ridiculously excited about it.
"Jim, look what I made. All by myself."
I can't remember his precise words. But imagine Jim's wit and vocabulary and something to the effect of the event being earth-shattering {in my mind}.
Well, I suppose it was.
When I got to Cyndee and Megan's house this morning, Azure was perched on my hip, bow on head. And I was ridiculously proud of both.
"Look what I made. All by myself."
I can't remember their precise words. But imagine comments about size and half-chiding and something to the effect that they thought I didn't believe in large adornments on the top of baby's heads.
Well, I guess I do now.
And then we got to the park and I was strollering Azure by some ladies on a bench.
"Oh, look at her hair. She's so cute!"
And THEN it was time to pause my excitement. Because, my girl has no hair. Obviously. And then my inner consternation wondered if the bow was either
Please let me know. But I hope it's the latter because plans for many more such items are swimming in my head.
But, back to the purpose of our Park Day...
This birthday Leprauchan:
Caleb is two. And my sister Megan made him this darling cake. It was her first time working with fondant and I'm quite impressed.
The little leprauchan liked it, too. There was a whole lot of clapping. And I swear I heard him say, "cake"!
Due to crummy sinuses and little sleep, I very nearly didn't join the Tuesday zoo expedition. There could surely be other surprises to appease the two boys. But then I overheard D. Confidentially speaking to his big brother. "I've never been to the zoo, Aidan." I reminded him that OF COURSE he had. That OF COURSE we go to the zoo all the time. Sheesh. But as my mind stretched and strained, I quickly realized that was a lie. We haven't been for nearly two years, nearly half of his young life.
So we packed up. And joined the party.
And what a party it was.
Grandma Jones turned 85 recently and the zoo trip was her birthday request. She also recently became the proud owner of a little motorized seat. I was quite impressed with her skills as she zoomed around all day. And, no Grandpa, she did not keep the speed at the first level as instructed!
It may not have been Davyn's first zoo trip, but it was Azure's. And she had major Outside Love.
These little striped legs bopped up & down in excitement for much of the day.
For the boys, the zoo trip was less about the Animals and more about the Maps. As evidenced by these random shots throughout the day:
It's obviously serious business. This Map Love.
Once again reminding me that these two only have half of my DNA.
There was still some animal sighting...and we were all impressed with how green the habitats were in the wake of all of our recent rainfall. Quite nearly lush.
And nowfor some Cousin Love.
Savannah & Reagan.
Talin & London holding hands.
Aidan (mouth full!) and his still favorite girl Reagan (perhaps Azure will sometime usurp or at least co-reign?).
Miss London in her new Orange.
Collin, Talin (could not get the boy to make normal faces!), Savannah.
We definitely won't be waiting two years for our next zoo visit!
Lots of Love.
