    my ticking clock

Aidan and Reagan adore each other.  So when I saw this picture Mandi took, it had to be stolen.  It made me remember the first time I broached the subject of a new baby with my two boys months ago (oh yes, the biological clock has been ticking loudly for a while).  This was what I got:

    "We want a Reagan baby."

You mean you want a sister?

    "No, we just want Reagan."

Well, while I'd happily clone that child, we decided to instead take a gamble of our own.  Perhaps we ourselves can produce a sibling who they'll want equally.

    Or accept despite.

    Perhaps.

Now for the questions asked (and thanks for all of the sweet congratulations!).  We would love a girl, but we would love a boy, too...the only thing I live in fear of is twins (I am not your equal in any way, Ras!). As for timing...well, I'm just about 2 seconds pregnant (7 weeks that is), due in mid-October, which for me easily means Halloween because I bake my babies long and large.

So, yes, I'm spreading the good news early.  "The plan" was to wait until at least 10 weeks, especially since our last pregnancy ended at about 8 1/2 weeks.  But whim easily trumps "plan" with something so Amy-encompassing.  And we move forward, hoping for the best, prepping for any eventuality, and praying that the boys will Love the end result...even when it isn't a carbon copy of our Reagan girl.

Each of these littles is - after All - a miracle all their own.

I sit by and (humbled) sigh.

If you have a girl she might turn out looking just like Reagan - I think she very much looks like she could be one of yours!

I think it would be very hard to keep something this major a secret for a long time, so I'm glad you shared your news early on. I'm sure the boys will be thrilled no matter what kind of baby they get, but it's so sweet that they want a Reagan baby.

I remember being barely pregnant and planning on holding the news, but Abe announced in the nursery we were having a baby (even though there is NO way he knew) and well . . . you just can't lie to a nursery leader when she confronts you because she'll know darn well that you have a tendancy to lie in less than a month. So....all that to say, I'm glad you told us early and we'll all be praying for you along the way--the whole way!

I, for one, have never been able to wait. If it's on my brain...then I'm going to write about it:) I've often wondered if I got pregnant again if I'd share it with blogland and know that I would. I'm looking forward to going through the ups and downs of pregnancy with you. Plus, you'll have a fantastic record.

My boys have told me they'd love a sister. Of course, I've longed for one myself, wondering who I'm going to hang out with in 30 years (I've watched both my brother and my husband and his brothers be notoriously uncommunicative with their mothers). But, with three XYs of my own, I, of course, can only assure you of that particular awesome combination too.

    I'm really happy for you!

I agree with Barb, Reagan could be one of your own. I can't wait to meet this babe who has encompassed you! And oh, I can't even imagine twins. Ras is wonder woman beyond the beyonds!

I've always thought Reagan looks like she could have come from your womb, too.
I love that your boys are so open to having a sister, and if it ends up a brother, that'll be great too. You are a super boy mom! Either way--boy or girl--they'll have an almost-same-aged friend at my house!

I am so excited for you! Congrats Congrats Congrats!!!!!!!

    I love Angie's friend comment. :)

I'm sure the boys will love the end result--either way.

When and how to tell others is always the big question! One thing I figured out pretty quickly is I had better only tell the kids if I was ready to share the news with the world. :) (Although a few of the older ones are pretty good at keeping good secrets.)

Oh, congratulations! I'm so excited for you guys!! I'm sure your boys will love the new kid, whomever he/she turns out to be.

Dominic and Alec fell in love with their baby cousin, Atlantis. Dominic once commented that he wished he had a baby sister. Alec's poor little face just fell, and he asked, "Dominic, don't you love (wuv) me anymore?" Dominic quickly explained that the baby girl would be an addition, not a replacement!

    Congratulations, again! I cannot wait!

I'm so excited for you, Amy. Boy or girl, that baby is gonna get Loved!

Nope, no trading -- I'm keeping my Reagan! I do love that bond Aidan and Reagan have - it's been like that since she was born. He's so tender and sweet with her and she just giggles with joy when she sees him. Sometimes when he's over, he'll come inside from playing with the others just to sit and play on the floor with her. So sweet. I hope you have a girl - your boys will/would make the best big protecting brothers! Oh, I'm so excited to know what you're having and I am so excited that you're not one of those people who doesn't find out until birth - I just can't handle that.

How wonderful that you are pregnant! Hooray! I'm pregnant with #3 and our third boy also. It'll be interesting to see if it's a girl or a boy. I'd like a girl someday myself. :) Hopefully, the extreme smells come under control soon. I know exactly what it's like. Except I gag on my toothbrush for nine months too, so I'm not sure what is worse, smells or gagging. :)

You live in fear of twins? I dream of twins. I dream I doubt will ever be realized since there is almost no family history of it. Sigh.

Mid October sounds like a beautiful time to have a baby. Congrats again!

That is such exciting news. I pray that everything will go well. Congrats!

Yes, Reagan totally looks like one of yours! Maybe you'll have one that looks just like her. I always lived in fear of twins as well... I'm not made of hardy enough stuff for that.

I'm glad you shared your good news. So many people are so happy for you! Besides, how wonderful to have this record of a pregnancy -- I so wish I started blogging earlier.
