    doctor cake

Congrats to my sister-in-law, Tonya, who graduated from Medical School yesterday (and congrats to her husband Daniel).  I am amazed by her hard work and studying over the past four years (and I'm amazed by any spouse who makes it through being half ignored for four years!).

I was honored to make a cake to celebrate the occasion, and it turned out to be more fun than stress (which is definitely a plus in cake making...there will seriously never be another wedding cake in my life).

I came across the idea from a Collette Peters book.  The woman is insanely creative and now has my mind running a million miles a minute with evil cake plans.  Everything on the board is edible.  The bag is all cake covered in chocolate fondant.

I also made these (found the idea on my friend Sheri's craft blog).  They're a great idea for any graduation celebration and - best of all - it took us about 20 minutes to make around 60 (with the help of two eager littles!).

    You. Are. Amazing.

That is the single most amazing cake creation I have ever seen. That bag looks like it is real leather. You even did stitching, for heaven's sake! And the edible medical supplies are crazy!

I want you to open a cake shoppe so we can see your amazing creations on a regular basis. You are crazy gifted, my friend. Wonderful!

Jaw dropping, Amy!! It's amazing, truly! It is so realistic, it's unbelievable. You're an artist! You can call yourself the cake doctor, and use this photo as your business card. You're crazy talented!

I am in complete shock. That cake is AMAZING!!! It really puts my train cake to unter shame, which I don't mind at all since this is such a wonder. I love how the "leather" reflects light differently just as if it was real. And all the tiny little details like the stitching the roll of gause and the mike-n-ike pills. So GREAT!

I wish I could go back and edit my comment. Sad really. I meant utter...and then there should be a couple of commas. Oh well.

Way to go Tonya! I bet she (and Daniel) are glad she's done. It'll be nice to have a doctor in the family.

The cake is beautiful. I would have a hard time wanting to cut it up to serve it. All that cuteness down the gullet.
