    tag, I'm it!

Tagged by Lelly (whose very cute blog is a must-see). Ok, six unusual things about me.

    1. I'll get this one out of the way as it has been more than pertinent this week. I am NOT a good nurse…nurturing the sick is (shamefully) not something I do well. I think I shocked Jim with my callous impatience the first time he was sick in our marriage. Surprise, your wife is a beast! He, in turn, shocked me with overly abundant patience. I'm definitely the lucky one here.
    2. I was once given an airplane ticket by a complete stranger who I met on the metro in D.C. I was crying, and he was beyond generous. The world is good.
    3. I would love to go to school for the rest of my life. Give me homework, please.
    4. I can bake platters full of yummy homemade treats, but have never managed to make an edible brownie from a box.
    5. Before having my first child I only wore heels. I hiked in heels (Tyler still laughs at me for that one), camped in heels, walked through museums in heels. I was also a sucker for beautiful suits...still long for those Ann Taylor days.
    6. I have a pin in my right hand ring finger. The fingertip detached when slammed in the door on Christmas Eve when I was about seven. I remember my parents covering it up so I couldn’t peek at the bloody mess. I also remember my dad carrying me in the hospital, to which I said, “My legs aren’t broken, it’s my finger.”
I tag Kelly, but I certainly won't be able to next year after all of her running skills develop!

These tags are so fun! I have to think of 6 unusuals that I haven't already shared -- surely there's more weird to be had, right?

I somehow missed your Ann Taylor/heels phase. I was there for your fishing t-shirt phase, though! :)

We need the whole story on your generous air plane ticket stranger!

Kel, I seriously have no clue about the fishing t-shirt reference. Hm...perhaps that memory is repressed for a reason! As for you coming up with 6 unusuals, I'm not worried in the least...there simply aren't many people your equal in *clever*.

We had a fly fishing phase where we never fly fished, but we bought and wore (often) fly fishing shirts. Very weird. I think it was a "River Runs Through It" influence or something.

Ah, yes. And remember the purple Suns shirts and white short twins that we only rethought when we actually got to school? That vision seriously makes me laugh. Ya, I choose to remember the Ann Taylor suit days. I definitely wouldn't choose to remember these all-day pajama fashion days. I need my kids to start school so I'll be forced to wear *real* cltohes!

Very interesting, I hadn't heard about the free airplane ticket before, you'll have to elaborate. And I miss your Ann Taylor suit days as well, I also miss your beautiful leather jacket. When on earth can Mandi actually wear that in Mesa???? (sorry Mandi!)

I love that you "caught" Kelly. And as for all of Crystalyn's Ann Taylor's suits. They are sitting in my closet and that makes me very happy :). Although I am yet to be a heel girl, I'm working on that one. I usually dress up in flats.

i would be a lifetime student if i could. when i was in my mid 20s (after college and after graduate school courses) i really felt like i was treading water mentally. i asked my mother (a high school teacher) to bring me a geometry textbook so that i could figure theorums. for fun.

While I enjoy learning I like to do it on my own terms. I still have nightmares that it's finals week and I wake up (in my dream) and realize that I have forgotten to attend my American Heritage class for the entire semester, so I walk into the final and the professor tells me to leave and never come back and thus I cannot graduate from BYU, EVER!

I haven't heard the airplane ticket story either -- I kind of missed out on a couple years of your life between my college/London/mission phase of life. Update me, please.

Megan - I'll have you know that it has been rather chilly this winter in Mesa and, yes, I have worn that beautiful leather jacket!!!!

I agree with learning - it would be fun to learn all the time. But I am finding out that it's harder than you'd think to pace yourself with Independent Study (I'd rather attend lectures, etc). I have 8 years to finish 20 BYU credits online, do you think I can do it?

Heels really? I always wonder how people can get around in those things. I guess I am a more practical flip flop kinda girl. I too LOVE Ann Taylor. Now that you did your 6 unusual things I am tagging you to do the happy things. Tag your it. HA!
