prelude to the holiday

I picked the preschoolers up today, and they looked like this:

Me:        So how was your Thanksgiving feast?

Them:    We had pizza.

Me:        Pizza?  That's interesting.

Sav:       But we pretended it was turkey.

Me:        Well, what did you learn about Thanksgiving in class?

Aidan:    That I'm thankful for pizza.

Earlier this week the boys and I had been talking about gratitude.   We went in a circle, taking turns listing blessings.  My most gratifying moment was perhaps when their first responses were "Dad" (from A) and "Mom" (from D).  No big surprise that they topped my list as well.

Other responses:

Davyn: beds, rocks, freeways (what does my 2-year-old know about freeways?!).

Aidan: house, trucks, but mostly Jesus (my insert: "I Love Primary & FHE!").

Me: moments of heaven-lent patience when I'm blessed to have these little conversations.

Happy Thanksgiving to you! I think that is one smart preschool teacher to serve pizza for a thanksgiving dinner. That is one dinner I don't get any negative comments from!

I am grateful for imagination. Now, I wonder if that works with getting back into a Size 6....

Pizza sounds totally like a typical Thanksgiving feast :). Freeways = drive fast with no stops. Yeah I can see why a little boy would love those.

I have so enjoyed reading your comments on April's blog, so I was so pleasantly suprised and pleased that you commented on mine. Darling kids...are they twins?

I love the genuine gratitude of children for the simple things. And I am grateful to be in your corner of the world again..."on the same street" as it were.

Happy Thanksgiving! I love their thankful lists. And, I'm just struck, too, at how awesome it is that you have these things written down here! Is there pizza on the menu tomorrow?

Yeah the pizza thing was a little weird. Savy told Nate that they pretended the pizza was turkey. Alrighty then. . . Do you forget how exciting the 202 is when it merges onto the 60 and we go up high? The kids LOVE the freeway! That must be what D was talking about. They are darling and it is fun to have those little conversations with them.
